How to Make Fake Text Videos with ChatGPT or Claude

Let your AI write the scene — you pick the theme and export the video.

You do not have to write the conversation yourself. Ask ChatGPT, Claude, or any assistant for a script, bring it into texting.video, and export the finished video. texting.video is free, browser-based, needs no signup, includes 13 themes and five aspect ratios, and allows unlimited watermarked exports.

Step by step

  1. Ask ChatGPT for the scene

Give it the premise ("a tense breakup over text", "a horror story told through leaked messages"), the tone, and a target of 8–12 short messages. The ready-made prompt at texting.video/for-llms.txt makes ChatGPT return the exact draft format.

  2. Use the ChatGPT plugin when available

Add texting.video from ChatGPT's Plugins directory. Ask for a texting story and ChatGPT returns a private edit link that opens the finished draft in your browser. Directory availability follows OpenAI review.

  3. Or copy and import the JSON

Without the plugin, copy ChatGPT's JSON response. Open the editor, choose JSON import in the Messages toolbar, and paste it. The conversation loads in one step.

  4. Use MCP in other assistants

Add texting.video's hosted MCP server to Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, or another MCP client. It writes the scene and hands you the same ready-to-render link.

  5. Pick a theme and direct it

Choose the chat look, adjust the pacing, add reactions. The AI wrote the words; you direct the video.

  6. Export

Export MP4 for TikTok, Reels, or Shorts — it renders in your browser.

Tips that make it land

  • Give the AI a hook constraint: "open with the conflict in message one."
  • Ask for 8–12 messages — short-form does not need more.
  • Have it write several variations, then pick the best hook.
  • For a faceless channel, batch a week of scripts in a single chat.
  • The MCP route is best if you make these often — it removes the copy-paste step entirely.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT make fake text messages?
Yes — ask it for the conversation in our JSON format and import it in the editor; you export the finished video from your browser.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Copy the JSON your assistant returns and paste it into the editor's import — that is the whole technical step.
Can I use texting.video directly in ChatGPT?
Yes. Add the reviewed texting.video plugin from ChatGPT's Plugins directory when it is available. Until then, paste the ready-made authoring prompt into ChatGPT and import its JSON response.
What is the MCP server?
A hosted connector that lets Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP clients build the scene and hand you a ready-to-render link. Add it at texting.video/mcp.
Is it free?
Yes — free to make and export (with a small watermark); Pro ($9/mo) removes it.
